  4. Strumming chords is OK for the beginning, but boring after a while. You can use some riffs instead. That means you don’t play all notes of a chord all the time, but only a part of the chord with two or three notes and change them within a bar. Take a look at this very common example:

     E/E6
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I--2-2-4-4-2-2-4-4--I
     I--0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0--I

Try to apply a so called shuffle rhythm, the typical Blues rhythm. It sounds a bit like you heartbeat, babumm, babumm,…

You need the riff also for A:

     A/A6
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I--2-2-4-4-2-2-4-4--I
     I--0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0--I
     I-------------------I

and for B – this one is more difficult to play, beginners usually have problems reaching the 6th fret…:

     B/B6
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I-------------------I
     I--4-4-6-6-4-4-6-6--I
     I--2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2--I
     I-------------------I
